If you happen to tune into this week’s episode of SWING ON THIS at roughly the halfway point, you might think you’ve dialed up KWTU, 88.7 FM, the KWGS sister station with a classical-music format. That’s because I’m actually featuring a composition by Beethoven (!) as part of the playlist. But, please, stay tuned, and all will ultimately be revealed.
In addition to a true moldy oldie (Ludwig van B. composed it in 1801-1802), this Saturday’s program also features an honest-to-goodness big-band number, from the trombonist who led the Glenn Miller ghost band during part of the 1970s.
But don’t worry. There’ll still be our usual grab-bag of Western swing, cowboy jazz, and maybe even another surprise or two along the way. So — with apologies to Chuck Berry — roll over Beethoven, and tell Bob Wills the news.
