14 AUGUST 2021

This Saturday on SWING ON THIS, you’ll find a couple of Oklahoma western-swing stars in unexpected places: Eldon Shamblin as a lead vocalist and Jesse Ashlock playing his fiddle with someone other than Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys.

Also, by popular demand, Rocky Bill Ford returns with another hard-core glass-lifting tune.

There’s also Commander Cody doing Phl Harris’s signature song, a “San Antonio Rose” parade entry by a band on the Smithsonian Folkways label, Tom Morrell and the Time-Warp Tophands with a wonderfully jazz rendition of a Hank Penny composition, and a 1964 release by Billy Parker that was probably ahead of its time by about 40 years.

All that and plenty more awaits you in the latest installment of SWING ON THIS, now in its 19th year of bringing western swing, cowboy jazz, and lots of musical surprises to listeners all over the globe. In the Tulsa listening area, check it out on KWGS, 89.5 FM, at 7 p.m. Elsewhere, tune it in live at publicradiotulsa.org. And, as always, thanks for listening.
