Longtime listeners know that they’re liable to hear just about anyone on SWING ON THIS. However, in the 18 years that the show’s been on the air, I honestly don’t believe we’ve every had Johann Sebastian Bach on the playlist.
Well, all of that changes this Saturday, when a Bach composition is indeed involved in a two-part medley from the well-known music producer Snuff Garrett and his Texas Opera Company, which was an ambitious, daring, and apparently one-off project of his from the ‘70s. Thank you, John Hamill.
And if that’s not boundary-expanding enough for one evening, we’ve got a second two-song medley from Craig Chambers that blends tunes from Marty Robbins and Irving Berlin.
Of course, we’ve also got some great numbers from people you hear from every week — or almost every week — like Bob and Johnnie Lee Wills, Leon McAuliffe, Milton Brown, Hank Thompson, and Billy Parker, along with cuts from some terrific new discs.
