Pryor Creek Comic Convention

When TULSA TERRORS co-producer Bryan Crain and I headed up Lookout Mountain to KTUL-TV, Channel 8, this morning (Wednesday) to plug Saturday’s premiere at Circle Cinema, we found out that our friend Jimmie Tramel was also on the GOOD DAY, TULSA guest roster. He was there with the delightful — and famous — artist/creator Muriel Fahrion, of Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears fame, who’ll be appearing at his Pryor Creek Comic Convention this Saturday. Another guest will be Gary Sandy, famed for his role of Andy Travis in the TV series WKRP IN CINCINNATI (who has gone on to do some notable work in live theater).

You can see both the Pryor Creek Comic Convention and TULSA TERRORS segments online at ktul.com/good-day-tulsa, and you can meet Ms. Fahrion and Mr. Sandy — and, for that matter, Mr. Wooley and Mr. Tramel — live on Saturday at the convention, which opens at 10 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m. at the Mayes County Event Center in Pryor. Gary Sandy is scheduled to be there from noon until 2 p.m.; the rest of us should be around for the whole thing, although I’ll have to leave a little early to get to the TULSA TERRORS screening that night.

Admission is five bucks, with kids under 10 admitted free.

I do want to thank Jimmie, one of God’s good people, publicly. He’s had me as a guest at every one of his conventions, and I sure appreciate it, and him. I notice that my old pal Brad Sinor, the science-fiction writer, is also set to appear, as well as other top-notch writers, artists, and even Jimmie’s companions on the Channel 8 broadcast this morning, the Real Oklahoma Ghostbusters and their impressive vehicle.

Hope to see you there Saturday, And I hope that, after the convention, you’ll consider making the trip to Tulsa with us in time for the 7:30 p.m. world premiere of a documentary I’m very proud of, TULSA TERRORS. Better check ahead, though, if you’re thinking about it; we understand that as of Wednesday, we were getting fairly close to a sellout.
