30 APRIL 2022

If you’re a regular listener to SWING ON THIS, you know I don’t play any songs several weeks in a row. In fact, a good percentage of the numbers heard on any given Saturday don’t ever show up on the playlist more than once. There’s so much out there to hear, and so little time to hear it, than I try to be as un-repetitive as possible.

However, I do have my favorite recordings, ones that you might hear on the program as often as every few months. And this Saturday, I’ll be spinning a few of those cuts — playing favorites, as it were — by Casey Van Beek and the Tulsa Groove; Ellicott, Bruner, and Eicher; and Syd Masters and the Swing Riders. In addition, we’ll have a Bob Wills classic that he redid during his twilight years in the business; it features a vocal by a guy who’d had a bona fide No. 1 rock ’n’ roll hit.

That and the usual lots more this Saturday night on SWING ON THIS, airing at 7 p.m.on Tulsa’s NPR affiliate KWGS, 89.5 FM, and live-streaming everywhere at publicradiotulsa.org
