5 FEBRUARY 2022

Here’s a one-question music quiz for you: What’s the only song ever recorded by Billy Parker, Tom T. Hall — and legendary crooner Rudy Vallee? Hint: As you might imagine, it’s an American classic.

You’ll hear Billy’s version if you tune in to SWING ON THIS Saturday night, where I’ve also got Bob Wills’ reworking of a well-known ragtime number; blues from Milton Brown, Johnnie Lee Wills, and Roy Clark; and, continuing the international flavor of our “San Antonio Rose” parade from last week, a rockabilly version of Bob Wills’ greatest hit from the Netherlands.

Also, by request, a glass-lifter from the boy from Okmulgee who, in the early ‘70s, became one of the leading lights of the Texas singer-songwriter movement. Plus two more swingin’ tunes featuring another Oklahoma musical great, steel-guitar innovator Bob Dunn.

All that and plenty more comes your way this Saturday night at 7 p.m. over radio station KWGS, 89.5 FM, in the Tulsa listening area and live-streaming everywhere at publicradiotulsa.org. C’m’on along!
