4 DECEMBER 2021

I’d like to think that any radio show featuring a song by a Canadian act called Crazy Carl and the Newfies (which, as I understand it, is slang for the Newfoundland breed of dogs) ought to be pretty interesting — but, as always, SWING ON THIS listeners will be the judges for this week’s offering.

Looking at the playlist, though, I do seem to have managed to get a little something for everybody this time. Lovers of classic western swing, for instance, should enjoy Milton Brown and His Musical Brownies, Bill Boyd and His Cowboy Ramblers, the Modern Mountaineers, the Tune Wranglers (with one of those swell double entendre numbers from the ‘30s) — and, of course, Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. For those into the current swing scene, I’ve got Ida Red, Shelby Eicher, Wayne Hancock, and Michael H. Price and His Western Swingmasters. Plus, another great Billy Parker duet from the ‘80s and Tom Morrell and His Time-Warp Tophands with their sweet version of Hank Penny’s “Take Another Guess.”

And  Crazy Carl — why, he’s the artist with the latest entry in our “San Antonio Rose” parade.

So join me and this wonderful array of swingin’ talent Saturday at 7 p.m., Tulsa time, for SWING ON THIS. Get it locally over radio station KWGS, 89.5 FM, and live-streaming throughout the galaxy at publicradiotulsa.org
