7 AUGUST 2021

If you know your Oklahoma performers, you probably know Kay Starr, the 1940s and ‘50s pop-music hitmaker from Dougherty. And if you REALLY know your Oklahoma performers, you may be acquainted with the work of Spencerville’s Rocky Bill Ford.

We’ve got ‘em both on the SWING ON THIS playlist this time around, along with Tulsa-based legend Billy Parker — doing a song produced by the man who brought us the ‘60s hits “Monster Mash” and “Alley Oop” — and the Bagsby Brothers with a funny and nostalgic take on the theme of a well-remembered T-Town TV show of the early ‘70s. There’s also Vince Gill, singing a dandy tune with the band the Time Jumpers.

All those Okies and lots more swell performers and tunes come your way Saturday, with the latest installment of SWING ON THIS: 7 p.m. Tulsa time on radio station KWGS, 89.5 FM, and live-streaming throughout the cosmos at publicradiotulsa.org. Always happy to have you along for the ride!
